2026 Tesla Model X: the final model year, explained

Tesla gave the Model X one last update, raised its price, bundled in Full Self-Driving and then stopped building it. Here is what that leaves for a buyer in late 2026.

The 2026 Tesla Model X is the final Model X. Tesla ended production in May 2026, more than ten and a half years after the first deliveries in September 2015, and the last cars carry the June 2025 update: 352 miles of EPA range for the All-Wheel Drive, a front bumper camera and a quieter ride.

If you are shopping now, you are buying remaining inventory or a used car. What you pay, and what perks come with it, depends on when the car was ordered.

Short verdictThe 2026 is the best Model X Tesla built and the last. It has the longest EPA range of the refreshed cars at 352 miles, a front bumper camera, quieter suspension and no recalls on file as of October 2026. Cars ordered from August 2025 include the Luxe Package, but free Supercharging does not pass to a second owner, so price a used one accordingly.

How the Model X ended

Timeline of the 2026 Tesla Model X from the June 2025 update to the last cars leaving Fremont in May 2026
Eleven months from the final update to the end of production.

On the fourth-quarter 2025 earnings call in late January 2026, Elon Musk said Model S and X production would end in the second quarter. Tesla then sold a 100-car, invitation-only Signature Edition, which sold out on April 16, 2026, and the final units left Fremont around May 10 to 12, 2026. Not a Tesla App reported that remaining Plaid inventory had been repriced at $129,990 in May 2026.

What the final update changed

Tesla revealed the update in June 2025. Compared with the 2025 Tesla Model X, the 2026 has:

  • EPA range up from 329 to 352 miles (All-Wheel Drive) and from 314 to 335 miles (Plaid)
  • A front bumper camera with a washer, useful because the Model X has had no ultrasonic parking sensors since 2023
  • Animated multi-color ambient lighting
  • New bushings and revised suspension, with less wind and road noise
  • Cargo space of 94.5 cubic feet, up from 92
  • The yoke as a Plaid-only option; Frost Blue and Diamond Black paint
  • New adaptive headlights, according to TFLcar's report

The HW4 Autopilot computer and AMD Ryzen screen computer did not change. Standard wheels are 20-inch Perihelix. The 22-inch Machina wheels, a $5,500 option, cut range to 316 miles (All-Wheel Drive) and 303 (Plaid) by Tesla's figures.

The Luxe Package, and what a second owner keeps

At the June 2025 launch, prices were $89,990 for the All-Wheel Drive and $104,990 for the Plaid. On August 16, 2025, Tesla added $10,000 to each and made the Luxe Package standard. Electrek listed what it includes:

Luxe item Goes to a second owner?
Full Self-Driving Confirm with Tesla for the VIN
Free Supercharging for life No, described as non-transferable
Premium Connectivity Confirm with Tesla
4 years of Premium Service Confirm with Tesla

For a used buyer, the free Supercharging is the perk most likely to be advertised and the one that won't follow the car. Don't pay extra for it.

Signature Edition: 100 cars, not for resale yet

The Signature Edition was a Plaid in Garnet Red with gold accents, a numbered plate and six seats, priced at $159,420 with the Luxe Package. Buyers signed a one-year agreement not to resell, with Tesla holding a right of first refusal. A genuine used Signature shouldn't come up for sale before about May 2027; be wary of one that does.

Recalls and complaints so far

NHTSA's recall lookup returned no campaigns for the 2026 Model X as of October 13, 2026. That is normal for a young car. Many recalls on earlier Model X years were issued a year or more after the cars were built, so check by VIN on NHTSA's recall site before you buy and again after.

Owners had filed six complaints by October 2026, four of them about forward collision avoidance. That is too small a sample to call a pattern.

As with the other refreshed cars, NHTSA has published only a rollover result: five stars, with a 9.3% rollover risk. No frontal or side scores are listed.

Charging a 2026 Model X, and the free Supercharging question

Home charging is unchanged from earlier refreshed cars: 48 A, or 11.5 kW, from a Wall Connector on a 60 A breaker, about 35 miles of range per hour per Tesla's support page. Empty to full takes roughly 9 to 10 hours.

How you chargeSpeed
Wall Connector at 48 A (11.5 kW, 60 A breaker)up to 35 mi of range per hour
NEMA 14-50 outlet, Mobile Connector at 32 Aabout 23 mi per hour
Regular 120 V outlet2 to 3 mi per hour
Empty to full, largest pack (about 100 kWh)about 9.5 hours at 11.5 kW

Rates scale Tesla's published Wall Connector table for this model; older cars and cold batteries charge slower. Times are estimates.

A first owner with Luxe free Supercharging may barely use a home charger. A second owner will. At the EPA's 32 kWh per 100 miles for the All-Wheel Drive and the US average of 18.31 cents per kWh (EIA, July 2026), 1,000 miles at home costs about $59 (320 kWh x $0.1831). See price per kWh to charge for Supercharger rates.

If the household also has a non-Tesla EV, a J1772 and NACS charger in one charges both. For the install itself, our guide on how to install a Tesla charger at home covers permits and wiring; hire a licensed electrician.

Buying a 2026 Tesla Model X: final checks

  1. Confirm it is 2026 spec: front bumper camera and ambient lighting.
  2. Ask Tesla which Luxe perks remain on the VIN.
  3. Check the wheel size, since 22-inch wheels cost 36 miles of rated range on the All-Wheel Drive.
  4. Run the VIN for recalls, even though none were listed as of October 2026.
  5. Note the warranty start date: 4 years or 50,000 miles basic, 8 years or 150,000 miles battery and drive unit under Tesla's current terms.

The 2026 sits at the top of our Model X year rankings for range and features. The 2024 Tesla Model X is the value alternative if you can live without the update.

Questions about the final Model X

Is the 2026 Model X the last Model X?

Yes. Tesla said on its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings call in late January 2026 that Model S and Model X production would end in the second quarter of 2026, and the final units left the Fremont factory around May 10 to 12, 2026. Tesla's compare page now lists only the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. Any 2026 Model X you buy now is inventory or used.

What is the range of the 2026 Model X?

The EPA rates the 2026 Model X All-Wheel Drive at 352 miles and the Plaid at 335 miles on the standard 20-inch Perihelix wheels. The optional 22-inch Machina wheels, a $5,500 option, cut those to 316 and 303 miles by Tesla's figures. That makes the 2026 All-Wheel Drive the longest-rated refreshed Model X.

What is the Model X Luxe Package?

From August 16, 2025, Tesla raised Model X prices by $10,000 and made the Luxe Package standard. It includes Full Self-Driving, free Supercharging for life, Premium Connectivity and four years of Premium Service. Tesla described the free Supercharging as non-transferable, so a used buyer should assume it ends with the first owner and confirm the rest with Tesla.

Are there any recalls on the 2026 Model X?

NHTSA's recall lookup returned no campaigns for the 2026 Model X as of October 13, 2026. That can change, and recalls on earlier years often arrived a year or more after the cars were built. Owners had filed six complaints by then, four of them about forward collision avoidance. Check the VIN on NHTSA's site before buying.

Will Tesla keep servicing the Model X?

Tesla has said it will keep servicing, supplying parts for and updating Model S and Model X after production ended, but it has not said for how long. A 2026 car also carries Tesla's normal warranty: currently 4 years or 50,000 miles basic, and 8 years or 150,000 miles on the battery and drive unit, from first delivery.
