The 2025 Tesla Model 3 came in three trims, all with the larger battery: Long Range RWD at $42,490 with 363 miles of EPA range, Long Range AWD at $47,490 with 346 miles, and Performance at $54,990 with 298 miles (prices before destination). It is the same Highland-design car as the 2024 minus the base model, and in October 2026 it is a used car or leftover stock, since Tesla now builds the 2026.
The 2025 Tesla Model 3 lineup and prices
| Trim | Price new (before destination) | EPA range | Efficiency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long Range RWD | $42,490 | 363 mi (346 mi on 19-in wheels) | 137 MPGe |
| Long Range AWD | $47,490 | 346 mi | 128 MPGe |
| Performance AWD | $54,990 | 298 mi | 109 MPGe |
| Trim | 0 to 60 mph | Home AC max |
|---|---|---|
| Long Range RWD | about 4.9 s | 48 A / 11.5 kW |
| Long Range AWD | 4.2 s | 48 A / 11.5 kW |
| Performance AWD | 2.9 s | 48 A / 11.5 kW |

The 0 to 60 time for the Long Range RWD is Edmunds' figure for the identical 2026 Premium RWD; Tesla's own 2025 number is not in our data. The usable battery is roughly 79 kWh in all three, an estimate because Tesla does not publish it.
Compared with the 2024 Tesla Model 3, the base 272-mile Rear-Wheel Drive is gone. The Long Range AWD's EPA rating moved from 342 to 346 miles even as its efficiency slipped from 130 to 128 MPGe, and the Performance dropped from 303 to 298 miles. The steering wheel still has no stalks.
New 2025 or new 2026?
If you are shopping new in October 2026, Tesla's order page sells the new 2026 Model 3, and a 2025 shows up as inventory or a demo car. The differences that matter:
- Same range in the core trims. The 2026 Premium RWD and Premium AWD carry the same 363 and 346 mile ratings as the 2025 Long Range versions.
- The stalk is back. The 2026 returned to a conventional turn-signal stalk. If you disliked the steering-wheel buttons on a test drive, that alone may decide it.
- A cheaper entry trim exists. The 2026 Standard starts at $38,380 including the $1,390 destination fee (Edmunds, July 2026), but it has less equipment and charges at 32 A.
- Crash rating. NHTSA gives later 2026 RWD and AWD cars five stars overall. The 2025 is listed as not rated.
- Performance range: 309 miles for the 2026 versus 298.
A new 2025 makes sense only at a discount to the 2026 Premium with the same drivetrain, which Edmunds lists at $43,880 (RWD) and $48,880 (AWD) including destination.
Every 2025 trim charges at 48 A
Because Tesla dropped the base car, there is no 32 A version of the 2025 Model 3. Every one accepts 48 A, or 11.5 kW, from a Wall Connector on a 60 A breaker, which Tesla rates at up to 44 miles of range per hour. That is the Wall Connector's maximum, so with a 2025 every trim can use a full-power install, unlike years with a 32 A base car.

The chart shows what you lose on smaller circuits. If your panel cannot spare 60 A, a 50 A breaker still gives 40 A and 37 miles per hour, and a Tesla Mobile Connector on a 14-50 outlet gives 32 A, about 30. For most drivers either is fine overnight. Our guide to setting the Wall Connector's current explains how the breaker size is set during commissioning, and our installation cost page covers what a 60 A run usually costs; Tesla's own estimate is $750 to $1,500.
| How you charge | Speed |
|---|---|
| Wall Connector at 48 A (11.5 kW, 60 A breaker) | up to 44 mi of range per hour |
| NEMA 14-50 outlet, Mobile Connector at 32 A | about 30 mi per hour |
| Regular 120 V outlet | 2 to 3 mi per hour |
| Empty to full, largest pack (about 79 kWh) | about 7.5 hours at 11.5 kW |
Rates scale Tesla's published Wall Connector table for this model; older cars and cold batteries charge slower. Times are estimates.
Recalls and problems on a used 2025
NHTSA lists three recalls, and one involves hardware that can strand you.

- 25V690000 (October 10, 2025): the battery pack contactors, the heavy relays that connect the high-voltage pack to the drive units, may fail and cause a loss of drive power. The fix is a free contactor replacement at Tesla Service. Treat an open 25V690000 as a must-fix before purchase.
- 25V002000: a short on the computer circuit board can blank the rearview camera image. Software update first, and a new computer where Tesla finds damage.
- 24V935000: the tire-pressure warning light may not stay on between drives. Software fix.
One data caveat: NHTSA files the 2025 car as "Model 3 (All variants)," and our recall query used the plain model name, so check the specific VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls rather than relying on any list.

There is no NHTSA crash rating for the 2025 Model 3. The agency lists it as not rated, while the 2023 and the later 2026 cars have five stars overall.
Warranty a used 2025 still carries
Most 2025 cars are inside Tesla's 4-year, 50,000-mile basic warranty in October 2026. Battery and drive unit coverage runs 8 years or 120,000 miles from the in-service date for Long Range and Performance trims, with at least 70% capacity retention. Ask the seller for the original delivery date, since both clocks start there, not at the model year.
What to ask a seller or Tesla advisor
- Is 25V690000 complete? Get the service invoice or check the Tesla app's service history.
- Which wheels? The Long Range RWD on 19-inch wheels is rated at 346 miles, not 363.
- What is the in-service date, for warranty math?
- Is a Mobile Connector included? Tesla sells it separately ($300, out of stock as of October 2026). Every car does come with the J1772 adapter; see what comes with a Tesla.
- For a new unregistered 2025, what is the discount against the matching 2026 Premium?

2025 Model 3 buyer questions
How much did the 2025 Tesla Model 3 cost new?
Before destination, the Long Range RWD listed at $42,490, the Long Range AWD at $47,490 and the Performance at $54,990, per Cars.com's 2025 trim data. Tesla adjusts prices often, so treat these as reference points. In October 2026 a new car from Tesla is a 2026 model; a new 2025 would be leftover inventory or a demo and should be priced below its 2026 equivalent.
Is there a base or Standard 2025 Model 3?
No. Tesla discontinued the entry Rear-Wheel Drive for 2025, leaving Long Range RWD, Long Range AWD and Performance. The $36,990 Model 3 Standard that launched in October 2025 is a 2026 model, though some listing sites file it under 2025. Check the tenth character of the VIN: S means a 2025 model year, T means 2026.
What is the difference between the 2025 and 2026 Model 3?
The 2026 added a cheaper Standard trim, renamed the Long Range versions Premium RWD and Premium AWD, and brought back a traditional turn-signal stalk. EPA range is the same for the RWD and AWD versions (363 and 346 miles). The 2026 Performance is rated at 309 miles versus 298, and the 2026 has a five-star NHTSA rating that the 2025 lacks.
Does the 2025 Model 3 have any recalls?
NHTSA lists three. The important one is 25V690000 from October 2025: battery pack contactors may fail and cut drive power, and Tesla Service replaces them free. The others are 25V002000, a computer board short that can blank the rear camera, and 24V935000, a tire-pressure warning light fix delivered over the air. Check any VIN on nhtsa.gov.
How long does a 2025 Model 3 take to charge at home?
From empty to full, about 7.6 hours on a Wall Connector with a 60 A breaker, adding up to 44 miles of range per hour. A NEMA 14-50 outlet with the Mobile Connector delivers 32 A, about 30 miles per hour, so a full charge takes roughly 11 hours. A 120 V outlet adds only 2 to 3 miles per hour.
